Client Essays and Short Stories

I have a running list of published pieces that moved through my Personal Essay Masterclass—26 and counting, including work in the New York Times Magazine, Iowa Review, Missouri Review, Salon, The Sun, Threepenny Review, and elsewhere.

I also help writers on an ongoing basis with personal essays and short stories. My clientele’s work has appeared in dozens of publications, including the following:

  • My client Robin Reif’s essay “Oranges” appeared in Missouri Review, and then the next year she won the Missouri Review’s annual nonfiction contest with her essay “Someone.” For more of her work click here.

  • Mishele Maron’s first of two pieces in The Sun, “The Chef is In,” was published last summer.

  • Hana Choi’s first piece appeared in CRAFT, and another story she worked on in a yearlong with me recently appeared in Mississippi Review, where it was a finalist in the 2022 contest.

  • Rebecca Morrison is a juggernaut, has published more pieces in the year we’ve been working together than I can keep track of, but here’s one, which was in Salon. For a complete list, see Rebecca’s website.

  • Yvonne Liu has been churning out many excellent pieces, including this Huffington Post essay on her family’s secret. For more info on her work, click here.
